Book Review: Lola’s Secret

You know those books that make you sad when you finish them? The ones where you wish you could actually step into the pages and become BFFs with the characters? Lola’s Secret, by Monica McInerney, is one of those books.

I LOVED Lola – a feisty 85 year old with a flamboyant way of life. I couldn’t stop smiling as I read about her interactions with family, friends and community. What a treat.

Even better, the author sees another book with Lola returning to Ireland, after spending most of her life in South Australia where this book takes place. Bring it on!

Oh….and apparently there was a book before called The Alphabet Sisters. Take my advice – read that one, too.
