Book Review: The Healer of Fox Hollow

I just finished reading The Healer of Fox Hollow by Joann Rose Leonard. It has touched my heart.

It is the life story of Layla, starting when she was 5 years old and rendered mute after a horrific injury. I must admit, when I started the book I was skeptical. The writing seemed simplistic but I suddenly noticed that I was completely engrossed in Layla’s story.

A beautiful heroine, I also became enamored of the other characters surrounding her…her father, her aunt and cousin. Even the doctor, her teacher and her neighbours warmed me.

This is a loving and gentle tale, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that it has a happy ending, too.
