Discover Your Inner Goddess: Amazon
Welcome to the last article in my series on discovering your Inner Goddess. This all started because I did a Tarot reading for myself using a fun layout that looked at different aspects of my femininity. In each post I share my reading with you and then expand upon the concepts that make up our Inner Goddess. So far, we have looked at:
Mother
Virgin
Siren
Sorceress
Wise Woman
Fairy Godmother
Wife
Hag
Today we close this series with:
Amazon
Amazon – What would I fight for? How can I develop my courage and determination?
Three of Cups – Cups represents emotion and spirit. Three represents the start of stability. I fight for spiritual stability. The three women in this card represent the trinity of womanhood: Maid, Mother, Crone. I fight to embrace all three within myself. I fight to get the word out to other women that enhanced positive energy and contentment comes through embracing all three aspects of ourselves. I develop my determination by walking my talk. By living an energized and contented life.
Amazon in Your Inner Goddess
It is interesting how my Amazon has evolved over the decades. In my twenties she fought to raise babies while in a state of confusion being a mere baby herself. In my thirties, my Amazon fought for a sustainable career, while in a state of confusion about her relationship. In my early forties, my Amazon fought to live on her own for the first time ever, while in a state of confusion about self-image and self-worth.
Now at darn near fifty, my Amazon is ready to fight for other women. Holy crumpets is she ever determined. She has been there, done that, and not only won the battle but the entire war on fear and confusion. Her reward is vibrancy and contentment and she wants the same for other women.
Take a look at the Amazon in your Inner Goddess:
- Have the battles your Amazon has fought evolved or changed over the years?
- Is she battle weary or full of victorious energy?
- How does she keep up her strength and stamina?
- What cause is she passionate about right now?
- In what way is she fighting for that cause?
There is an iron willed chieftess in all of us. Give her a worthy cause and watch what she can accomplish.

Hag – What in my life is ugly and terrifying? How can I tame this monster?
The Empress – The Empress is the third stage of Maiden, Mother, Crone. She is constantly giving birth to new ideas, dreams and wishes. Interesting that this shows up as my monster, but she is both beautiful and ugly. Ugly because she can run amok causing utter chaos in my life. Creative ideas flow in abundance. I can become overwhelmed and action comes to a screeching stop. How can I tame her? By capturing the ideas down on paper, then releasing them while I focus on actioning just one or two at a time.
The Hag in Your Inner Goddess
No matter how much we invest in our spiritual and personal development there is some aspect that needs work. Quite often, like my creative thoughts, it is a positive aspect of you that has run amok. Perhaps you are very nurturing, but at times this tips the scales into smothering. Or you are very wise, but at times your advice giving becomes meddlesome. Another aspect of me that runs amok is the fact that I am task driven. I know that when there are too many tasks piling up I become officious. I can hear that authoritative tone in my voice and I cringe.
I tame my ‘monsters’ through awareness. Awareness of the fact that I most definitely not perfect, so I self-monitor for aspects of my personality that go a little bit crazy. I don’t beat myself up, I just say to myself “Self, you cannot possibly accomplish all those wonderful ideas and you are bogging yourself down” or “Self, let it go. You sound like a task master. Trust that everything will get done at some point.”
I actually like my hag. Sometimes she can turn into cranky old lady, but she has the wisdom derived from Darn Near 50 years of life. When she remembers to let go and let be, she has a lot to give in a very positive way.
Take a look at the Hag in your Inner Goddess:
- What parts of yourself make you cringe?
- Are they positive traits run amok, or traits that need to be eliminated altogether?
- If they are positive traits run amok, what do you need to let go of in order to tame these traits?
- How do you feel about your Hag? Is she cranky and annoying, or she more like your Wise Woman on a bad day?

Wife – What are you married to? How do you devote yourself to others?
Death – I love this card! It means natural endings necessary for rebirth. I am ‘married’ to cycles. I love cycles! Creation – evolution – decay – death. Cycles fascinate me. I am married to the process of my own cycles and being aware of my processes. I then devote myself to guiding women through their own cycles. In particular, helping them through the Death stage which can be scary and unsettling.
Wife in Your Inner Goddess
Marriage is a partnership that involves a combination of independence and dependence. Achieving the right balance can be tricky, but once it is mastered the whole truly is greater than the sum of its part.
I find this with the passions in my life such as my fascination with cycles. If I spend too much energy observing and analyzing the cycles in my life, I actually screw them up because I am not going with the flow. If I devote too much time guiding other women through their ebbs and flows, I lose sight of my own.
Just like my partnership with my husband, my marriage to my passions requires fine tweaks along the way. But when everything is perfectly aligned, I am one very contended ‘wife’.
Take a look at the Wife in your Inner Goddess:
- What passion is she married to?
- How much time does devote to this ‘marriage’?
- Does her identity get lost, such that if the ‘marriage’ suddenly ended she would have no sense of self?
- How does she maintain the balance between independence and dependence?

Fairy Godmother – What gifts can I give to the world and others? How do others approach me?
Ten of Cups – Cups represent emotion. Ten represents a successful completion of a cycle. I bring women to a state of a fulfillment and happiness. That is the gift I bring to others. There are children dancing around in this card. Others approach me with a sense of celebration. I create an environment of joy and fun for women to play in.
The Fairy Godmother in Your Inner Goddess
What gifts can I give to the world and others? That is ultimately what it is all about, isn’t it? After you take care of yourself, because you have to gift yourself first and foremost, so that you are in the best state to give to others.
I truly believe that our role in the world is to provide service. Of course, we can’t do this willy-nilly; we would exhaust ourselves. Rather, we zero in our passion and act according to it. My passion is helping women get in touch with their own Inner Goddess. This enables them to discover their unique passion and start their own gift giving.
I found the other question “How do others approach me?” fascinating. Quite telling really. It’s like holding up a mirror to one’s own energy and behaviours. I had to take a step back and look at how people approach me. I discovered they come to me with a smile on their face and a spring in their step. Whew!
Once you get into the habit of giving to yourself, then giving to others, you get into a wonderful cycle. After all, the best gift the Fairy Godmother gives herself is helping others.
Take a look at the Fairy Godmother in your Inner Goddess:
- What gifts does she give herself?
- What is her passion?
- How does this passion translate to gifts to others?
- What type of energy do people have in her presence?

Wise Woman – What do I know deeply? How can I share my knowledge?
The Magician – He has the tools for travelling along life’s journey. I have an in depth personal knowledge of the tips, tricks and actions needed to move from scared, confused, overwhelmed woman to fearless, clear and energized woman. Going back to the Mother in my Inner Goddess, I nurture and create communication. I share my knowledge through written communication.
The Wise Woman in Your Inner Goddess
Each of us knows something very deeply. For me it is that each of us contains a fun, sexy, intelligent and real woman, but sometimes she is hidden. Not gone, just hidden away waiting for a light to shine through leading her out into the open. That is what I know to be true, and it is truth I feel called to share. You have your own truths that you have gained through a combination of experience and self-reflection. They have caused more than a few wrinkles and perhaps a grey hair or two, but they are badges of wisdom and grace.
Take a look at the Wise Woman in your Inner Goddess:
- What lessons has she learned through the school of hard knocks?
- What truth empowers her?
- What needs to be told to women who are coming up behind her?
- How often does she share her wisdom?
- How does she share her wisdom?

Sorceress – What do I control and manipulate? How can I change my life?
The Hanged Man – This card talks about a topsy-turvey perspective, of surrender, and the importance of stillness. I try to control and manipulate outcomes. Mainly mine, although sometimes in stressful situations I revert to my old habit of controlling other people’s outcomes. I can change my life by surrendering to a power greater than me. Also, by changing my perspective from the steps along the journey to focusing on where I ultimately want to end up.
The Sorceress in Your Inner Goddess
Surrendering has been an ongoing lesson for me. When my life was in utter chaos, I desperately tried to control and manipulate people and events. I thought this would bring order to the chaos. In fact, it made it worse. When I let go, and surrendered to who I really am, the chaos settled into calm.
This set up a positive cycle. The more I trust in the journey, the more powerful my Sorceress becomes. What I now manipulate is energy, working in partnership with God, or the Creative Force if you prefer. The awesome changes in my life have exceeded my expectations.
By letting go, I manifest.
Take a look at the Sorceress in your Inner Goddess:
- Does she attempt to manipulate and control people and/or events?
- What works best for her when it comes to manifesting change?
- Does she work alone or partner with Higher Power?
- How often does she surrender control and go with the flow?

Siren – What attracts me to others? How do I celebrate my sexuality?
Page of Pentacles – The page represents a child. Pentacles represents something tangible like money or body. I am attracted to people who are comfortable in their own skin, the way a child is. I celebrate my sexuality by being comfortable in my own skin, not thinking about the wrinkles and soft belly. By taking delight in what my body can do, just a child delights in discovering what her body can do.
The Siren in Your Inner Goddess
As a younger woman, physical appearance played a part in determining who I was attraced to, for both genders. I think that is natural, because that part was obvious and ‘in my face’ and I didn’t have the skills to necessarily dig below the surface. Mainly because I hadn’t dug below my own surface! Now physical attributes have very little, if anything to do with it. I can sum up what attracts me others in one statement: the person is totally comfortable with who they are. This makes them gloriously beautiful.
It took me over forty years to get to a point where I am totally comfortable with who I am, but now I can honestly say, I am one hot mama. Oh sure, there are bad hair bloated tummy days when I don’t feel the least bit sexy or attractive, but I know it is a fleeting hormonal state and not a reflection of who I am. A bit of make up, a curve hugging top, and a funky pair of earrings and I am back to strutting my stuff, knowing full well those are just added bling to my already attractive laugh, confidence, and sense of fun.
Take a look at the Siren in your Inner Goddess:
- Does she have a clear idea of the people she wants in her life, and those she doesn’t?
- What attributes in other people catch her attention?
- What attributes in herself catch other people’s attention?
- How well does she know and love herself?
When you are feeling a bit unsure of yourself, embrace the Siren in you. Then go out and own it, baby!

Virgin – What is a mystery to me? How do I celebrate my image?
Ace of Cups – Cups, emotions, social aspects of life. Ace, brand new beginnings. What is a mystery? Relationship with oneself; it fascinates me. Not just my relationship with me, but other women’s relationships with their-selves. How do I celebrate my image? By exploring who I am, all the time, by digging deeper. By revealing who I am at my core, and surrendering to myself.
The Virgin in Your Inner Goddess
At this point in my life, the thought of labelling myself a virgin makes me giggle. Three children certainly disprove the sexual definition of virginity. But, when I look at the metaphorical definition I hope to remain a virgin for the rest of my life.
The day I stop being a mystery to myself, is the day I stop learning and growing. An absolutely horrendous thought, because I thrive on learning and pushing my spiritual growth boundaries.
As for celebrating my image? It took me forty years to learn to do that. Not just my physical image, but more importantly my image of who I truly am. Admittedly, as my body changes as I approach fifty, I am struggling a wee bit with the physical image aspect, but that just means I have to adjust my image of who I am, until balance is once again achieved.
Take a look at the Virgin in your Inner Goddess:
- What fills her with a sense of awe and wonder?
- Is she comfortable with her physical body?
- Does she have a strong sense of self-worth?
- How does she celebrate and honour both her physicality and her spirituality?
Take a moment each day to go back to the sense of awe and possibility that your virginal younger self was filled with.
