Reasons to read Tarot

I have been reading Tarot for over fifteen years and the cards have been an important tool in my kit of self-exploration techniques.

If you do not read Tarot, chances are pretty good you think of them as tools belonging solely to psychics and carnival fortune tellers. That you need to be born with a gift for reading the messages found in the images.

In fact, nothing is further from the truth.

Do you pick up a pen and journal your thoughts? Do you meditate? Do you listen to the ‘little voice’ inside? I am sure you said yes to at least one of those.

Do you need to be psychic to do any of those things? Were you born with a special gift that allows you to put thought to paper? No, of course not. Well, guess what? These serve the exact same purpose as Tarot cards which is to go beneath all the surface noise and tap into your intuition.

You could pick up a deck right now, with no training, and tap into your intuition simply by looking at the images and paying attention to words and feelings that come to you. Of course, by learning Tarot through books or courses you get richer and more meaningful information. But then again, if you learn specific meditation techniques you will achieve greater relaxation allowing more information to flow into your still mind.

As an intuitive mentor, I read Tarot for others, but this is what I personally use Tarot for:

• to set my focus for the year, then month, then week, and sometimes for the day
• to bust through emotional blocks
• to explore options when I have an important decision to make
• to stretch my intuitive ‘muscle’
• to jump start my creative juices

Wouldn’t it be great to have another tool to help you do any or all of the above? Not to mention how cool it is to be able to help your friends with these things by reading for them. All possible with a simple little Tarot deck.
