Cleansing and protecting your aura

Welcome to the second to last post on auras. To recap we have covered the following in this series:

You absolutely can see and read auras
How you read auras all the time
Techniques for seeing auras
How to see colors in auras
Understanding colors of auras

Today we are going to talk about cleansing and protecting your aura.

Your aura is your energy field. In its pure state it is humming along beautifully and is a nice clean color. However, if you have been bombarded with stress or negatively, your aura can get all junked up. The humming turns to static and you develop pockets of gunk.

Just like you would not go a day without brushing your teeth or washing your face, ideally you should not go a day without cleansing your aura.

Why? Because your aura is the energy you put out to the world. And what we put out to the world, we get back. If you put out a static and gunky aura, you are going to get back static and gunk. This leads to stress and negatively, which leads to a gunkier aura and now you are in a vicious circle.

The ideal amount of time, according to my dentist, to brush your teeth is two minutes. It honestly does not take anymore time than that to cleanse your aura. It is as simple as this:

  1. sit quietly, preferably with your eyes closed, and take deep relaxing breathes
  2. mentally scan the energy surrounding your body looking for areas that just aren’t right. The colour might be off, or the energy waves might have slowed right down to almost stagnant. This involves totally trusting your intuition and imagination. Don’t worry if you do not sense your aura, or changes in the energy, right away. Just relax and keep repeating this exercise each day. It will come.
  3. When you find a ‘not right’ patch, imagine flooding that area with white light. Or, imagine giving it a good scrub with soapy water. Honestly, whatever works for you. This is your aura and you will find the method that works best for you.
  4. Continue scanning and cleansing your aura until there are no gunky patches.

And that’s it! You are good to go for the day.

Now that you have a healthy and energized aura, the next trick is keeping it that way throughout the day. You need to protect your aura from the onslaught of stress or negativity that can come at you.

Let’s say you know you are going into a negative or stressful situation. Take a moment to ‘beef up’ your aura.

  1. Close your eyes and take a deep breath
  2. As you slowly exhale, imagine pushing white light out of every pore in your body. You might have to do this a couple of times until you feel confident that you can greet whatever awaits you in a calm and confident way.

Okay, now let’s say, you weren’t able to proactively beef up your aura, because you didn’t see a negative situation coming at you until it was too late. To protect your aura and get it back to a healthy state:

  1. Assess how you are feeling and what color your aura is.
  2. Decide what color you want your aura to be in order to feel positive again.
  3. Imagine a fountain of energy, in the color you want, pouring out the top of your head and washing all over your body.
  4. Keep this up until you feel good again and your aura is the color you want it.

For example, the other day I was in a situation where I could feel frustration building up to the point I was afraid of bursting into tears. Since I was in a very public situation, I needed to calm down and remain positive.

I decided I wanted to feel bubbly so I picked a cotton candy pink colour for my aura. I did this fountain exercise to go from frustrated with a grey aura to bubbly with a cotton candy pink aura. Now, in this case, I had waited rather long to do this exercise — silly me — so it took a good ten minutes to get where I needed to be. If I had been more proactive and done this exercise the second I realized I was getting frustrated, I could have switched over my aura, and state of mind, in less than a minute.

You have control over your energy field. The world can throw negative vibes at it, but in the end, you are the one who decides if you are going to absorb that negativity or not. With some daily maintenance, and awareness of when you need to beef up your aura or fine tune it, you can go through your day humming with energy.

And you can be any color you want. Even cotton candy pink.

Next week we will conclude this series with a discussion on how being tuned into your aura can enrich your processing of the world.

Understanding colors of auras

Time once again for another installment on auras. So far we have covered the following:

You absolutely can see and read auras
How you read auras all the time
Techniques for seeing auras
How to see colors in auras

Okay, so you can see auras and you know how to detect the color of them. Now what?

Well, now you have to figure what the color means, so that you can use that information to help ‘read’ the person.

The best way to interpret color is to determine what a particular color means to you. There are two fun ways to do that.

1. Mind map the color – write down a color and draw a circle around it. Now draw a line off from the circle and write down a word that you associate with that color. Draw a circle around that word, draw a line off from it, and think of what that word triggers. Keep going until you run out of trigger words. Then go back to the first circle with the color name and start again.

For example, for the color RED you might have a strings of words like this RED->LOVE->COMMITMENT->LOYALTY; RED->FIRE->PASSION

2. Create a collage of the color – start a scrapbook page for a color. Be on the look out for images that capture the meaning of that color and add them to your scrapbook page.

For example, again using the color RED, you might have images of hearts, people kissing, fire.

The idea is to really understand what a particular color means to you so when you ‘see’ that color in someone’s aura you very quickly draw upon what that means from your list of associations.

Continuing with RED, let’s say you are listening to a key note speaker. From watching him you really cannot get a good sense as to whether he is really passionate about his topic, or whether he is going through the motions as part of a sales pitch. If RED shows up in his aura then that is a clue that he is walking his talk. If another color shows up, he might not be and you then interpret that color to get a good ‘read’ of him.

To help you get started here are some common symbolic meanings of colors:

  • Red – action, confidence, courage
  • Pink – love, beauty, excitement
  • Brown – earth, order, convention
  • Orange – enthusiasm, determination, success
  • Gold – wealth, prosperity, wisdom
  • Yellow – wisdom, joy, intellectual energy
  • Green – life, nature, fertility
  • Blue – spirituality, truth, peace
  • Purple – royalty, magic, mystery
  • Indigo – intuition, meditation, deep contemplation
  • White – purity, cleanliness, innocence
  • Black – death, earth, stability
  • Grey – sorrow, security, maturity

Don’t get too tied these meanings. They are simply guidelines. It is far more important for you to figure out what each color means to you. After all, you are the one seeing and interpreting the aura.
There are two more articles in this series. Next week I will cover protecting and cleansing your own aura, then the following week I will pull everything together and show how working auras can enrich your processing of the world.

Until then, enjoy exploring your colors!

How to see colors in auras

Welcome to the next article in my series on auras. To date we have covered the following:

You absolutely can see and read auras
How you read auras all the time
Techniques for seeing auras

Now we are going to talk about seeing the color of people’s auras.

“Oh goody! I’ve been waiting for this!” you say rubbing your hands with glee.

Well, here is the thing. You don’t actually see aura colors.

“Say what?? That’s not right, Eliza. Everyone knows auras have colors.”

And they do. But, people do not wander around looking like Rainbow Brite all awash in pretty colors. That would be awfully distracting. What you physically see is the heat shimmery thing we discussed in an earlier post.

You don’t see the color part, you feel the color part.

“Okay, Eliza has lost it.”

No, really. Read any book or article on auras and they will all explain that you feel, or intuit the colour. You look at the heat shimmery thing and then you just let the color of the aura come to you by blanking out your mind. Honestly, it is as simple as that.

The trick is to

  • not force it
  • not question it

If green pops into your head, then the aura is definitely green. If yellow pops in, then the aura is definitely yellow. The more you practice, the faster the color comes to you.

Of course, knowing the color of someone’s aura is pretty dang useless if you do not know what the color means! So, next week we will discuss the meaning of colors and how you can use that to gain information about the person you are ‘reading’.

What is your reaction to being told you do not actually see aura colors?  Tell us in the comment section below.

Techniques for seeing auras

Welcome to the next article in the series on auras. If you are just joining in now, here are the topics we have already covered:

You absolutely can see and read auras
How you read auras all the time

Today we are going to cover something I know everyone is anxious to learn about … how to see your own and other people’s auras. The other stuff was theory, now we are getting to the really cool stuff!

As you recall, auras are energy waves that run through and around our bodies. So, to see auras we simply have to look for those energy waves.

Easy-peasy!

Let’s start with the basics.

So what does your aura look like? The best way to describe what this looks like is the heat waves rolling up off the asphalt on a hot summer’s day. You know, that heat shimmery thing. That is exactly what an aura looks like.

“Ya ya, Eliza, but how do I see it?”

The easiest way is to start with yourself.

  1. stand in front of a mirror
  2. unfocus your eyes. Ever tried one of those Magic 3D books where you have to look ‘beyond’ the page? That is exactly what you need to do. Look ‘beyond yourself’ in the mirror.
  3. in your peripheral vision you will start to see an outline of your physical body in the form of a ‘heat shimmery thing’. It may extend anywhere from an inch to half a foot or more outside your body.

And THAT is your aura.

Okay, now that you know what it looks like, you can graduate to looking directly at your body.

When I want to to check my aura, generally in a very frustrating meeting, I look at my arm but again not directly at it. I softly focus on the space right above my skin. I can judge how I am feeling by how far out the ‘heat shimmery thing’ extends. Tight to my body? Oh, oh, time to relax. Three to six inches out? I’m still good.

Don’t worry if you don’t get this right away. I stared at those stupid Magic 3D books for hours before the images finally popped off the page at me. Just keep trying.

Once you have mastered this technique on yourself, it is time to check out other people’s auras.

Again, you are looking for the ‘heat shimmery thing’ by focusing just beyond them. I find it easiest to look over a person’s shoulders. That way I get the aura in the space formed between the head and shoulder.

People might look at you a little oddly when you first try this because you have to stare over their shoulders for a bit. However, I can get now get an instant aura reading, and you will too with practice.

“But what about colours, Eliza? You haven’t talked about colours!”

Nope, because that is a post onto itself. Next week!

In the meantime, spend this week getting familiar seeing your own ‘heat shimmery thing’, and if you feel comfortable with that move onto some people. Make sure you come back here and tell me how you are doing with it!

How you read auras all the time

Last week I told you that you absolutely can see and read auras, and we started off with a fun little exercise to experience your own aura. This week, I am going to demonstrate how you read auras all the time without even thinking about it.

As you recall from last week’s article, an aura is simply someone’s energy field. Think of it as an electrical current running through and around their body.

Have you ever walked under those monstrously huge hydro lines? You can hear the hum of the current, and most likely you were able to feel the electricity creating a tingling feeling in your body. There are two occassions in my life when I experienced exactly this in the presence of another human being.

The first was on a street in Toronto. My son and stopped short at the exact same time because we could feel a strong presence. We looked ahead and people on the sidewalk were parting to make way for someone. This someone was a tiny ancient man, but he was larger than life. Ed Mirvish, a Canadian icon, highly successful business man, theatrical impresario, and philanthropist.

As Mr. Mirvish walked past us, I felt a current of electricty run through my body. I know my son felt it too because his eyes were as large as saucers. This beautiful little man had an aura that parted a crowded city street.

My second experience was waiting for a key note speaker presentation. Another presentation was underway when I arrived, so I stood at the back of the room. All of a sudden a shock wave went through my body. I spun around and standing right behind me was a gentleman who positively glowed. That is the only way I can describe it. He simply glowed. I actually had to take a step backwards out of range of his electrical current in order to catch my breath.

Turns out, he was the keynote speaker I had come to see. I cannot remember his name, or even what he spoke about, but I can play this thirty second incident out in my head as clear as watching a movie.

These are extreme examples of experiencing someone else’s aura, and happen maybe a couple of times in your lifetime. However, we all experience this on not so grand scale quite regularly.

I bet you have said the following:

  • She lights up a room everytime she enters
  • She positively glows with happiness
  • He has a gentle soul

And the following:

  • That woman is pure evil
  • He makes my skin crawl
  • He as a black heart

And this

  • There is something about that person that rubs me the wrong way

Without conscious effort you are reading people’s auras.

No, you are not seeing colours surrounding their body, but the information you are picking up is extremely valuable. You are adding another critical piece of information to your assessment of someone. When you add this to the information you gain observing their behaviours and listening to their words and tone, you can make decisions such as

  • Spending time with this person will enhance my positive energy
  • This person is an energy drainer; I am not spending time with them

And in extreme cases

  • Danger, Will Robinson!

Imagine how much more you could learn about a person if you started doing this consciously!

Next week we will talk about what auras look like and how to see them.

You absolutely can see and read auras

I was asked a question about auras recently, so over the next several Mondays we will explore this topic.

Specifically the question went something like this:

“Eliza I can’t see auras. Can I learn?

Well, I can absolutely guarantee that each and every one of you already sees auras.

“Oh, no Eliza, I don’t look at a person and see rainbow colours around them.”

Neither do I, actually. But I can see and read auras. And so can you.

This week we are going to start with a fun exercise so you can experience your own aura.

Okay, stop reading this article until you have tried this little experiment.

  1. close your eyes and keep them closed until the end of this exercise
  2. rub the palms of your hands together firmly and rapidly
  3. shake your hands out
  4.  repeat rubbing the palms of your hands together firmly and rapidly.
  5. hold your hands palms facing about a six inches apart
  6. very slowly move your palms together
  7. pay attention to any and all sensations
  8. open your eyes

Are you back?

What did you feel or experience?

At the very least you discovered resistance pushing your hands together. Maybe you felt the air temperature change in that space. Or you might also have experienced a tingling sensation in your hands, and maybe even up your arms.

What you experienced was your own aura, which is your personal magnetic field. By rubbing your hands together you stirred up your energy. Pushing your hands together was like trying to bring two magnets of the same polarity together.

There is nothing mystical and magical about auras. It is pure science; we are all made up of energy fields.

This is really good news. It means you can manipulate your own aura. You can also read other people’s energy fields. You just need to know what to look for.

Next week I will demonstrate that at a fundamental level you are already reading auras. As a matter of fact, it is something you do every day.

Looking at my soul

Several people have asked me if the woman on the cover of my new eGuide Developing Our Intuitive Self: Tarot & Oracle Card User Guide is me. The answer to that question is no

… and yes.

“Well, which is it, Eliza? She cannot be you and yet not be you.”

Actually, she can.

The image is not a photograph of me. She is a result of the graphic design genius of Deb Dorchak from Blue Sun Studio. The woman did not even start out as she looks now. For a fun look at her transformation, you can check out Deb’s really interesting case study on how the eGuide cover came to be.

So, no, the woman is not me.

And yet she is.

Over the last several years, I have come ‘into my own’. Part of this process involved pulling all my skills, wisdom, beliefs, values and personal power into a persona. Although the use of the word persona is not quite right either. This woman is me, she just doesn’t physically look like me. She is what my soul looks like.

I call her the White Witch.

When I start to get unbalanced, my White Witch gently calls me home. Back to my true self. Back to my soul, the source of all my knowing and power.

But how on earth was Deb able to capture this in ink?

It was a combined effort of Wendi Kelly, my business coach and Deb’s business partner, Deb, and myself. We talked about this White Witch. Not once, but several times. Wendi asked questions, I responded, and Deb let her creative juices flow.

  • What does she look like?
  • What does she feel like?
  • How old is she?
  • How does she stand?
  • What aura does she have?
  • What does she think?
  • What does she believe?
  • What can she do?

On and on the discussions went until I was talked out, Wendi could not come up with any more questions, and Deb said “Ah ha!I think I have it!”

What an incredible exercise! Not just because I ended up with a stunningly beautiful cover to my eGuide. This went far deeper.

When Deb sent me the cover design, I bawled. I am talking sobbed.

I realized I was looking directly at my soul.

The woman on the cover is me.

And she is beautiful.

Demystifying Tarot and Oracle Cards

Tarot cards. There is something mystical in just reading that, isn’t there?

Gypsies in tents lined with silk, long bejewelled fingers reaching out to take your money. Overly made up women on cable TV turning strange cards over and determining destinies for call in viewers. By appointment only psychics starting their sessions by burning sage and going into a semi-trance.

It all speaks to specially ordained powers that only the select few have. And only those with the nerve to have their fate read by a stranger have access to the power of the cards.

WRONG!

I read cards, tarot and oracle, as one aspect of my intuitive mentoring services. And I could very easily convince you that in order to learn from these cards you have to come through me. After all, that would be clever business wouldn’t it?

Except I could not in all good consciousness do that. My philosophy for my mentoring in general and using the cards specifically is ‘I have done my job when I have done myself out of a job’.

Allow me to demystify Tarot and oracle cards for you.

Tarot and oracle cards are a tool. Nothing more, nothing less.

A tool to help you gain direct access to your intuition.

How they work is actually quite scientific if you understand that absolutely everything is made up of energy. We have the ability to tap into and work with that energy. It’s called quantum physics, and experiments have proven that humans can manipulate matter. Deepak Chopra has some very excellent books, in laymans terms, on this very topic if you would like to delve deeper.

Basically though, you use the cards by concentrating on a challenge, thereby transferring your intuitive energy to the cards. The cards then provide you with the answer to your challenge by showing up in the reading.

Seems a bit far fetched, but when you are stuck on a problem the same cards will show up over and over again until you finally have a Ah-ha! Moment. The probability of this is pretty slim, so it isn’t random chance.

I am passionate about guiding women to the realization that their intuition has all the answers they will ever need to any and all life challenges. There are many tools for accessing your intuition, and Tarot and oracle cards are one of them.

As with any tool, there is a bit of learning curve, but I want you up and running with the cards quickly! After all, the fun part is connecting with your intuition, not struggling with a tool.

In order to help you do that, I wrote Developing Our Intuitive Self: Tarot and Oracle Card User Guide. In this guide you will learn:

  • How tarot and oracle cards work
  • How to pick the right deck for you
  • How to ask the right type of question
  • How to transfer your energy to the cards
  • What to look for in the cards to get your answers
  • How to do three types of layouts to address just about any challenge you have

This guide is available in electronic format (.pdf) at Eliza’s books. Or, if you are like me and love learning by being able to ask questions, the guide is free — yup, free – when you sign up for my Basics of Oracle Cards online workshop.

No silk tents, no gypsies, no celebrity psychics required. Just you, a tarot or oracle deck, your own energy.

Tapping into your very own intuition and solving your very own challenges.

Living intuitively every single day

No, there is nothing wrong with your eyes. The image is blurry. For two reasons.

The first reason is that what is behind the blurry image is a big secret. A surprise. Something I am very excited about, but will not be sharing with you until this time next week.

The second reason is, this is how we process the world when we do not consistently use our intuition. Our processing is blurry.

Oh sure, we take in a lot of information with our other senses of sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. But we are missing information.

Just like in the image.

There is obviously a beautiful woman dressed in white with flowing silver and white hair. But she is a large image, so you can make her out fairly clearly.

Some of the lettering is pretty large, so you can probably make it out too. It says Developing Our Intuitive Self.

Because you know my name and are familiar with Silver & Grace, you can guess that at the top it says Silver & Grace, and that is more than likely Eliza Fayle at the bottom right hand corner. It’s a guess, but a fairly educated one.

But what the heck is written under Developing Our Intuitive Self?

Beautiful woman, part of the title, the author … lots of information. But, even with all that information, you have no idea what this is all about, because you are missing a critical piece of information.

When you go through life processing the world with only five senses, you can get by. You will get some information very clearly, and other information you can guess at. But when you leave out your sixth sense of intuition, you could very well be missing critical information.

If it means turning right instead of left and ending up in a traffic jam, that is just a minor inconvenience. If it means totally misjudging a person you get into a relationship with, it could be at the very least emotionally painful and at the worst downright dangerous.

I live intuitively every single day.

You might question that, but would you question me if I said I use my senses of sight, sound, taste, hearing and touch every single day?

No, you wouldn’t.

My intuition is on equal footing with my other five senses. And the information I receive to process is much clearer because of it.

You too can live intuitively every single day.

You have the ability. You just need to use it.

A super simple meditation to ground yourself

Over the past five weeks, we have been exploring different intuitive styles. If you haven’t already read them, have a look to discover which intuitive style you are:

What intuitive style are you?
Are you an emotional intuitive?
Are you a mental intuitive?
Are you a physical intuitive?
Are you a spiritual intuitive?

One of the common themes in all these styles is the need to remain balanced. Even with intuition, too much of a good thing is not good.

In this post, and next Monday’s post, I will give you a sneak peak of some techniques that will be part of my upcoming book on meditation. Neither of these techniques takes very much time to perform, but are extremely effective in creating balance and calm.

Today’s technique is ideal for grounding yourself when you feel that your energy is all over the map.

Getting Rooted

The fastest way to calm down and get grounded is to go for a walk in Nature. However, since most of us are not living in the middle of woods, with the freedom to simply walk outside at a moment’s notice, this is challenging.

I love this meditation. It can be used anywhere, any time. You do not even need to close your eyes, so you can be in the middle of a crowd and nobody will know you are meditating.

How to do this

It does not matter what position you are in for this meditation. You can be standing in a line at the grocery store or sitting in a chair. I do find, however, that it helps if your feet are in contact with the ground, so lying down is not as effective.

1. With your eyes closed or open, take a couple of deep cleansing breathes. Continue to breathe deeply throughout this meditation.

2. Image that your legs are like the trunk of a tree and roots extend from your feet into the ground.

3. Feel yourself drawing nurturing minerals up from the ground through the roots and feet, and up through your entire body, as if you were a tree.

4. Push the feelings you are trying to get rid of (like fear or anxiety) out of your body through your ‘leaves’. Just like a tree expels carbon dioxide.

5. As the feelings hit the air, imagine them condensing into water which falls to the ground and is absorbed.

6. Repeat this cycle of drawing up nutrients and expelling toxins until you feel calm and grounded.

7. Say to yourself “I am coming back into myself. Three. Two. One.” If your eyes were closed, slowly open them. If they were open already, you are good to go.

Have a grounded and graceful week,
